An award-winning worker placement game in which players compete to infuse and hatch dragon eggs on a quest to become the next great Dragon Lord!
Underlings of Underwing™ is an award-winning worker-placement and resource management board game for one to six players. Gazing out into the Hatching Grounds, players imbue Dragon Eggs using elemental crystals gathered via Handlers in an attempt to successfully hatch the greatest collection of Dragons through the rules of color theory. Gameplay lasts 30-60 minutes; more players means a longer play time.
The game was originally designed by Alisha Volkman for The Game Crafter's Learning Game Design Contest (co-sponsored by The Pericles Group). Not only did it take first place, but it impressed the TPG team so much that we offered to publish it under The Pericles Group brand with a full suite of 90 unique Dragon illustrations. The game teaches players to better understand the principles of color theory while simultaneously offering lightweight gameplay that appeals to all ages (with additional strategic gameplay mechanics for those seeking an increased challenge).
Underlings of Underwing™ also comes with a solo variant (i.e., not a "ghost player" version of the 2-6 player game) that retells the story of the first Great Dragon Lord. Narratively, this explains how wild Elements were originally tamed and the Great Hatching made possible for Underwing's future would-be Dragon tamers.
During solo play, the Dragon Lord must contend with an infusion of wild Elements into the Hatching Ground and race to hatch as many tame Dragons as possible. Victory depends on careful planning and anticipation of wild Elements to come.
